No Friends of Plano Public Library Book Sale for 2020

No Book Sale in 2020

Friends of the Plano Public Library released the sad news that this year’s annual Book Sale is cancelled. The announcement comes after organizers weighed concerns for the health and safety of shoppers and volunteers attending the event.

The Friends anticipate the coronavirus pandemic won’t be a hindrance to scheduling the Book Sale in 2021.

Friends of the Plano Public Library is a nonprofit organization that has tirelessly supported the Plano Public Library since 1965. The annual Book Sale is the largest fundraiser for the volunteer group, providing a significant portion of the up to $150,000 they contribute each year. Friends’ donations help fund Library programs, acquisitions, professional staff development and outreach activities.

Since the group’s founding, the Friends’ contributions have totaled more than $2 million to the Plano Library. Proceeds from the 2019 sale enabled the Friends organization to contribute $127,000 to 2020 programs. Learn more about the Friends of the Plano Public Library and consider volunteering.
