Watch the 45th Annual Plano Police Awards Ceremony

Police Annual Awards ceremony 2

The Plano Police staff was forced to change how their annual employee recognition event was held due to COVID-19 concerns. The ceremony took place in the Toler Meeting Room to honor department members who performed above and beyond this past year.

Chief Ed Drain began by thanking the sworn and civilian employees for continuing to provide outstanding services during the pandemic. In lieu of a warm handshake, Chief presented awards along with a congratulatory elbow-bump. See the 2019 honorees as Assistant Chief Sandra Rodgers-Tomeo calls their names:

Lifesaving Award – Officer T. J. Brantley and Deputy Chief Mike Tower
Medal of Valor Award – Officer Richard Henderson
Outstanding Rookie of the Year – Officer Richard Varner
Outstanding Civilian of the Year – Crime Analyst Andrea Desmond
Outstanding Civilian Supervisor of the Year – Detention Supervisor Kevin Capper
Sworn Supervisor of the Year – Sergeant Brad Ewell
Outstanding Officer of the Year – Detective Stephen Howell

Congratulations to all of the 2019 nominees and award winners.
