Plano CRX Saves Money on Prescription Meds

PLANO CRX logo with med bottles

In 2019, the City implemented a new cost-saving pharmacy mail order program administered by CRX International. This voluntary program is available to eligible employees, pre-65 retirees and their dependents on the City’s UnitedHealthcare medical plan.

Plano CRX provides brand name maintenance medications at no out-of-pocket expense. CRX is able to obtain medications directly from manufacturers and skip the retail pricing.

Prescriptions covered by CRX ship directly to your home free of charge. Before ordering through CRX, members must:

  • Have taken the prescribed medication for at least 30 days to ensure there are no complications
  • Get a doctor’s prescription for a 3-month supply with three refills and send the forms directly to CRX

Certain classes of drugs are excluded: Plano CRX Enrollment page 1

  • Acute medications (antibiotics)
  • Controlled substances (narcotics)
  • Targeted substances (benzodiazepines)
  • Medications requiring refrigeration
  • Medications that require ongoing monitoring/adjustments by primary care physicians
  • Precursor substances (Allegra-D), lifestyle medications and generic medications.
