PPD’s Daniel Chesnut Celebrates 30 Years of Service

Take time to reach out to one of our valued and seriously tenured Team Plano members! It’s no small feat to successfully work in public service, but to last three decades is truly noteworthy. For those of us who don’t work directly with Dan Chesnut, here’s a brief snapshot:

Birthplace:  East Liverpool, Ohio

Married/single, children, pets:  Married to Diane Chesnut 43 years with one son, one daughter and 5 grandchildren

Hire date and title back then:  I was hired on November 19, 1990 as a City Jailer

Current job title and years in that position:  Detention Administrative Supervisor since 2012; previously the Detention Supervisor since 1995

What drew you to this profession: Encouragement from a family friend who was an officer

What are your primary responsibilities: I oversee daily operation for my division

How many people do you supervise: I manage 5 supervisors and 26 detention officers

What do you enjoy most about your job:   I greatly appreciate my coworkers

What book are you currently reading:  “The Practice of Adaptive Leadership”

What TV show would you binge watch:  “Hill Street Blues”…again

Favorite family ritual:   Christmas Eve dinner with family

Fill-in the blanks:  “If I weren’t the detention administrative supervisor, I would be a teacher instead.”

A favorite quote:  “Live long and prosper.”
