COVID-19 UPDATE: Vaccinations for 1A and 1B Groups (Feb. 4)

COVID vaccine info graphic

The City is only authorized to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to employees in the Phase 1A category – EMS/Public Safety. With vaccine supplies scarce, some public safety employees are still waiting to receive the shot.

It is challenging, but please be patient as sufficient supply is received for everyone in groups Phase 1A and Phase 1B, and ultimately the general population. According to Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the vaccine will not be readily available for most Texans until late spring or early summer 2021.

We want all of our employees who want a vaccine to be able to receive one as soon as possible. This is a very frustrating time, especially for those who are struggling with serious health conditions. When sufficient vaccine supply becomes available, our hope is to have a partnership with a healthcare provider to coordinate a vaccination program for our employees, which will follow the vaccine administration protocols as defined by the Texas DSHS.

In the meantime, you are encouraged to contact your primary health care provider and local pharmacy to inquire about vaccine availability. You are also encouraged to add your name to available waitlists – see below.

For more information on the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the Texas Department of State Health Services provider map.
