Residents and local businesses now have the opportunity to explore the use of solar power, affordably. Nonprofit group Solar United Neighbors (SUN) launched the Plano Solar Co-op for members to learn about solar energy and purchase individual solar systems at a competitive price.
The Co-op is free to join. “We are pleased to support this nonprofit, community-driven effort to increase access to solar,” said Yarcus Lewis, Plano’s sustainability projects supervisor. “This program is in line with our clean air goals. We hope residents from all of Plano’s neighborhoods will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about solar energy and see if it’s right for them.”
The City has two programs to help homeowners go solar and make energy saving home improvements:
Joining the Co-op does not obligate members to purchase solar. Instead, members will have the option to individually purchase panels and electric vehicle chargers based on the installer’s group rate.
SUN will host an online information session about solar energy and the Plano Solar Co-op:
