Pay Increase on the Way for Team Plano per City Manager

On April 6, Plano City Council approved a 2% pay increase across the board to base pay for all eligible employees effective May 3, 2021. City Manager Mark Israelson announced the mid-year compensation hike will be reflected in May 13 paychecks. This increase applies to active City employees in the PeopleSoft system as of May 3 – with some exclusions and conditions.

Per City Policy 205.000, employees will receive a lump sum payment for any portion of a pay rate increase that causes the employee’s salary to exceed the maximum pay range.

Employees on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) as of May 3 will have their pay increase deferred until the PIP is completed. 

General Compensation Plan and Technology Services Plan
All employees, including part-timers, on the General Compensation Plan and Technology Services Plan are eligible for a 2% pay increase. Both Plan range minimums and maximums remain unchanged.   

Civil Service Compensation Plans
All Police and Fire ranks, steps and base pay will be adjusted 2%. Employees in this category will continue to advance on scheduled steps for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Public Safety Communications Plan
The Public Safety Communications (PSC) steps receive a 2% adjustment to base pay. PSC employees may advance steps when eligible for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Current Fiscal Year Personnel Actions
Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for employees hired, promoted or reclassified with effective dates May 3-15, 2021, must reflect if the hire/promotion rate does or does not include the 2% increase.
