The City of Plano earned Keep Texas Beautiful’s (KTB) Gold Star Affiliate designation for Exceptional Community Improvement Efforts. We are one of 70 organization members to receive the honor – out of roughly 300 KTB affiliates.
The Gold Star Award goes to communities that go above and beyond the established industry standards. To remain in good standing with KTB, cities must:
Thanks to the Sustainability & Environmental Education division (SEED), the City successfully implemented programs to clean up litter, reduce and recycle waste, educate local citizens, and beautify and enhance the local community.
KTB members like Plano engaged over 20,000 volunteers who contributed about 38,000 hours to collect 1 million pounds of waste and recyclables from Texas roadways, trails and waterways in 2020.

Keep Texas Beautiful will formally recognize the new Gold Star communities during its 54th Annual Conference in June.
