National CPR and AED Awareness Week is June 1-7. There are things you should know before the need arises to use these devices. Some Team Plano members have jobs that require they know CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but they represent a small percentage of our 2,000+ employees.
Seconds count when someone goes into cardiac arrest. Would you know what to do? The American Red Cross reports more than 1,600 people suffer from cardiac arrest each day in the U.S. One of those people could be someone close to you or even you yourself.
All City facilities are equipped with automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Celebrate National CPR and AED Awareness Week by learning the exact location of each device. It’s likely you pass by a defibrillator every day at work. Download the PulsePoint AED APP to see maps and photos of where AEDs are installed all over the City and elsewhere.
Want training?Plano Fire-Rescue (PFR) provides excellent hands-only CPR and AED training to groups as part of their community outreach and education program. PFR Captain Peggy Harrell has more information about the training. The Red Cross also offers CPR classes.
Our skilled first responders aren’t the only ones who can help save a life – think about it.
