TECH NEWS: MFA is Here to Stay!

The City’s implementation of citywide multi-factor authentication (MFA) is well underway. By now, you should have enrolled in Okta Verify for the new MFA verification process that begins soon!  Learn more about why this is happening here.

Everyone must participate, especially those who work remotely and need to access the City network offsite. Here's what will happen:

  • Monday, September 27
MFA ENFORCEMENT – The City will integrate the following applications:  Office365 (email, OneDrive and SharePoint) and GlobalProtect with Okta MFA. Every remote user will be prompted for MFA verification when accessing these applications from outside the City network.

Some employees are being issued a YubiKey (a USB device) as an additional/backup identification method ONLY. Look for information from your supervisor or director about you receiving a YubiKey or not as part of the MFA enrollment process.

MFA uses credentials unique to you to confirm your identity when signing in to the network. These extra steps make it more difficult for unauthorized persons to access our resources.

Read Technology Services Okta Verify MFA FAQs for more details and answers to your questions. These FAQs are updated regularly. Please review them before you call or submit a request for tech support. Get assistance with the MFA enrollment process at SERVICENOW or call the HelpDesk at 972-941-5306.
