Team Plano, Rediscover the Things that Ground Us

Ground Rules active listeners

For weeks, you have seen messages promoting our “We Are Team Plano” campaign. Those four words go beyond sharing WHAT we are about into WHO we are and WHY we do what we do.

  • You heard City Manager Mark Israelson reinforce his message that Team Plano employees are the organization’s most valuable resource.
  • The reimagined online SERVE Culture Book in flipbook format reminded you what we value and why we SERVE.
  • “We Are Team Plano” lunch bags were distributed.
  • Our annual holiday luncheon brought Team Plano members together with food, fun and fellowship.
  • A Team Plano Culture page is now on the City’s plano.gov website sharing our SERVE values with the world.

Plus, you continue to acknowledge others seen living the organization’s values through our I SEE U SERVE program. Since its inception in 2020, nearly 1,800 e-cards have been sent, in addition to the hard copy I SEE U SERVE cards sent. This simple act of recognition is significantly impactful and carries the message that We Are Team Plano.

Continuing this message, we will take a deeper look into what “grounds” us and keeps us centered. A brief video reintroduces the City’s Ground Rules. These rules lives in each SERVE value and embody the “We Are Team Plano” call to:

  • Focus on what is good for the organization
    • Go beyond self
  • Don’t keep score in relationships
    • Realize there are no sides
  • Assume good intentions
    • Remove any lines to read in between
  • Seek to understand before being understood
    • Genuinely listen before actively speaking
  • Respect each other and the team
    • Show others they matter

Thank you for sharing your unique personal and professional experience, and for striving to live our common purpose to SERVE.

We are individuals. We are different. We are together. We Are Team Plano.
