Dogs make for wonderful companions and are welcome almost everywhere; including the Sam Johnson Recreation Center (SJRC). However, your furry friend must be a registered service animal to enter the Center.
A service animal is any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability – physical, sensory, psychiatric or mental. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requires the animal to be under the control of the handler. This can occur using a harness, leash or other tether.
Emotional support animals, comfort animals and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of ADA guidelines and are not allowed into the facility.
Contact the SJRC at 972-941-7155 with questions.
