The graduation ceremony for the 2022 Leadership for the 21st Century Program (L21) participants took place on June 15. The 13 participants of the 6-month training gathered at the Oak Point Nature & Retreat Center to receive their well-deserved certificates.
After a celebratory lunch, the supervisors and department heads joined the grads as they listened to Parks & Recreation Director Ron Smith’s praises for their accomplishment. The group was encouraged to “lift where you stand” or “bloom where you’re planted” as he challenged them with stories of putting leadership into action.
“Each of you has a unique skill. Take what you’ve learned and go make the organization even better. Lead, serve and bloom!” said Smith.
L21 training cover a number of leadership-related topics under three main focuses:
- Transitioning to Leadership
- Building High-performing Teams
