Lower temperatures in North Texas prompt grasses to go dormant meaning lawns require far less watering. Plano’s Winter Watering Guidelines are effective November 1 through March 31 with watering only once a week allowed. It’s a proactive way to “conserve and protect” the City’s water supply.
Plano residents are encouraged to turn automatic sprinkler systems off. During this period, water your lawn based on the last digit of your home’s physical address:
Run sprinklers between 10 am and 6 pm on designated watering days to reduce the risk of nighttime freezing on sidewalks and roadways. Hand watering is also allowed for two hours between 10 am and 6 pm on any day.
