Congratulations to the Plano team for nabbing several Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) honors. Our Communications and Community Outreach department (CCO) worked with the Plano Police Department Victim Services Unit and LifePath Systems to create a public service announcement video series. This series has received numerous state and national awards.
The CCO LifePath video series, “Every Story Matters,” earned TATOA’s 1st Place award in the PSA category. With suicide mortality numbers in Texas up by nearly 37% since 2000, this educational series has proven very helpful in addressing this global issue. Lifepath Systems provides mental health counseling and family-support programs in Collin County.
The video series focuses on five of the many people LifePath has counseled through mental health struggles. The two main messages in the series are that people from all walks of life can experience difficulties, and that there is hope and healing through these difficulties with counseling.
The CCO department also won these TATOA awards at the November 3 conference ceremony:
- 1st Place in Animal Services category – “Meet the Plano Volunteer Pet Photographers”
- Award of Merit Public Affairs category – “Town Hall: Parks and Recreation”
