Start the Holiday Season with a Parade, Dickens and Lights Galore

Kick off the season with a parade, an old-fashioned Christmas experience, festive lights on a farm and a rousing musical performance. It all starts this weekend.  

Saturday, December 2

2 pm – Plano Holiday Parade
Come to Historic Downtown Plano for this year’s “March of the Toys” themed parade. The route starts at 18th Street and M Avenue, travels west on 18th Street, south on Municipal Avenue, east on 15th Street, north on M Avenue and ends at the Bird Educational Center.

4-9 pm – Dickens in Downtown Plano
Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th Street  
Plano's annual holiday celebration features family fun, live music performances, a real snow slide, the Coffee and Cocoa Walk, shopping and photos with Santa. Enjoy cookies with H-E-B, holiday photo ops and kids' craft tables. Tour the Childrens Entrepreneur Market. Visit the tethered hot air balloon basket for photo ops. This year Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will join us to mark their 40th Anniversary. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 7 pm. 

Now through Saturday, Dec. 30

6-9 pm – Lights on the Farm
Heritage Farmstead Museum, 1900 W. 15th St. 
Celebrate the holidays with a visit to the Heritage Farmstead Museum. During Lights on the Farm, the farmstead transforms into a winter wonderland with 2 million lights and numerous animated holiday displays. Tickets at the gate are $10 per child and $15 per adult. A visit with Santa is $10. Items available for purchase include s’mores, hot cocoa and light up merchandise.

Sunday, Dec. 17, 4 & 7:30 pm – Home for the Holidays
Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road
Guest artists Nick Fabian, Midtown Quartet and the Plano Civic Chorus join the Plano Symphony Orchestra for the “Home for the Holidays” concert. Enjoy seasonal favorites and the popular sing-along.
